FEEDBACK:  to whom it may concern, it would be lovely if an employee(s) could be staffed upstairs permanently to enforce the quiet study area since there is always someone or a group loudly having a discussion without thinking about the people trying to study around them. its really becoming quite a nuisance, ive tried emailing the president of the university about this frequent problem, but to no avail. if upstairs is really a quiet study area then could we please enforce this. thank you.

Dear Mike:  Thank you for your feedback on this on-going issue. We understand your frustration and are looking into some new strategies to help manage the problem.  In the short term, however, please report the problem to staff in Lending Services or at the Reference Desk, at the time of the event…we can and will deal with the problem when we’re alerted.  Thank you again and be assured that we are working on some possible new ways to manage noise.

Dear Student:    We know that the Library is a heavily used building, especially at exam time and that it can sometimes seem crowded. One suggestion is to ask a staff member at the Lending Services Desk for assistance in finding a quiet, open space for your use.  Staff are very good at finding space to accommodate almost every student need, and I hope this suggestion works for you.

Dear Library User:   We know it has been very warm in the Library this past week.  Campus facilities staff are doing their best to work with our HVAC system, but the warm outdoor temperatures make it even more difficult.  We all hope that to have some resolution once the seasonal temperatures kick in this week.

FEEDBACK:  You need a “Book Return Claim Form” like other libraries like http://library.uvm.edu/about/policies/bkclaim.php so I can have a formal record that I returned a book that is still listed under my name.

RESPONSE:

Dear Stephanie:

Thank you for the suggestion to create an online Book Return Claim Form; we will certainly consider doing so (we do have a paper form available at the Lending Services desk). However, the link that you included in your feedback is not a “receipt” in the sense of a record that a patron returned a book. The form is simply a way to let the library know that the user believed s/he returned the item so that the library can search for it again.

If you received an overdue notice and believe you returned the book, you may call our Lending Services Department (973-720-3180) or stop by and speak with a staff member.  You will be able to fill out a paper Book Return Claim Form at that time.  However, please note that this is NOT a receipt and all patrons are responsible for the items checked out to their accounts.

FEEDBACK:  does this feedback go to the President?  I sincerely hope so.  I am VERY concerned about my tution dollars and how I am being supported as a student?  this is unacceptable.  We need to study and you are underminning this – I will blame you and the library when my professor gives me a bad grade which he probably will since I am unable to work or concentrate or think or move in this library.

FEEDBACK: Is this some kind of a sick joke?  it’s nearly 100 degrees in here. I cannot afford to get sick right before FINALS and the holidays.  This school is a joke.

Dear Students:  Please accept our apologies for the HVAC problem on Sunday, when it was uncomfortably warm in the Library. The problem has been corrected and we do not anticipate another peak in temperatures such as we had yesterday. Again, our apologies.

1. it’s either too hot or too cold in here.  No matter what its usually uncomfortable.  There is NEVER a reason for it to be 80 degress in here – even if it’s 10 below outside.  People who study here are punished by getting sick.

2. leaking ceiling = mold.  Did anyone check to see if there’s mold growing after all those wet leaking dripping days where the carpet and ceiling are soaked? what are we walking on, breathing and sitting near in the mildew/moldy book area?

3. digusting table tops.  Do these ever get washed?  People eat, rest their feet and heads and their dirty bookbags on these tables.  Everyones drinks make a mess.

4. bathrooms.  Do these ever get cleaned?  toilet paper is everywhere.  water is everywhere. never sure if there will be soap or tp.

5. trash.  Have you noticed that there are crumbs everywhere?  look down!  I see cereal, sun flower seeds, straws, plastic wrappers all on the FLOOR!

Also, what happened to hand sanitizers all over campus?  we really need them in the library.

      Thank you for your feedback, which I have passed along to our Facilities and Custodial staff.  There is no question that we’ve had a rough patch with regard to temperature changes and a leaking roof, but I am pleased to report that these problems are diminishing.  Plans are being developed for replacing both the roof and the HVAC system. I will inquire about the hand sanitizers. Thank you again for pointing out these problems!

Please accept our apologies for the warm temperatures in the Library last week.  The Facilities Department tries to regulate the HVAC system but when it is unseasonably warm outside, it is difficult to keep it cool in the building.  Let’s hope for smooth sailing from now on!

FEEDBACK:  I have a graduate carrel reserved this semester and every time I am there, the section is too cold. Today, it was so cold I had to move to a different section of the library. This is extremely inconvenient. I have my own reserved desk, but I can’t even sit there without feeling like I’m in a freezer. Please fix this.

Dear Shalane:  Thank you for reporting the too cool temperature in the Graduate Reading  Area, we have reported the problem to Facilities.  That said, I suggest you keep a sweater in the carrel for times like this, since we have been experiencing temperature swings all spring and summer.  As the seasons change, these temperature changes sometimes occur more frequently.

This is happening right outside of the library.  Why do they insist on mowing and weedwacking during lunch time?  Clearly every bench and picnic table is FULL of people.  Most of them are eating.  All of them are enjoying a break between classes.  Can mowing be sceduled in the morning or afternoon instead of ruining our LUNCH??? Please have some cinsideration wer’e trying to enjoy a nice day and this oblivious mower just spews noise zad weeds and dirt up all around us without a glance.

Can you pass this along to someone who can do something about this???

      Yes, Pioneer Express funds can be used for printing. See http://www.wpunj.edu/hospitality/pioneer-express.dot for complete details. Each student is given a 600 page free printing quota each September. When and if this is expended, the student will have the option of paying for printing from his Pioneer Express “purse”.
